Summer Movie List

As we approach August, for me it means that I have just about one month of summer left. In reality that is about a third of the entire summer (so quite a bit), but it still feels quite unfortunately close to the start of a new school year, and with it, lots of stress. Rather than think about the fact that soon we will be buried in homework, however, I thought I would make a list of my all time favorite films; I love having movie nights with friends, and summer is the prime time for it. Get the works: pillows and blankets on the floor in front of the TV, plenty of drinks and snacks (my favorites are popcorn, ice cream sandwiches, and Dr. pepper), some of your friends, and most importantly, some good movies.

Stuck In Love: romance/drama
This movie follows the story of a family directly after the husband and wife divorce, and how they, as well as their two children, experience and respond to love in different ways. The cast (including Lilly Collins, Nat Wolff, Logan Lerman, and Jennifer Connelly) lead strong, charismatic roles, making the movie real, heartfelt, and witty.

The Internship: comedy
With leading actors Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson (taking on another movie together, after successful 2005 movie, Wedding Crashers) you really can't go wrong. Though they are both entertaining actors on their own, together, the pair is hysterical. The movie follows these two men, salesmen, who are laid off from their jobs and become interns as Google amongst recent college graduates who are all tech-geniuses. They come together with other misfits in the program, to form their own quirky group, and after a rocky start, come together in the end.
Chef: comedy
When a successful (and passionate) chef gets a bad review from a high profile food critic because he's not making the food he wants, he quits his job, buys a food truck, and goes on a tour of America with his son and best friend. The movie includes the up and current theme of social media, giving it a new and modern twist. Be sure to not watch on an empty stomach, because the food porn in the movie will have you drooling!

Cabin in the Woods: horror
Now I wont lie and tell you that this is an exceptional film... because it's not. However, it does have a pretty cool basis of an idea... When a group of friends go to a lake-house over the summer, they find themselves trapped there and being hunted by zombies. For a summer sleepover, when it's late and you what to watch something scary, this is a fun movie to get you laughing while your heart rate is rising.

Breakfast at Tiffany's: oldie romance
I don't typically go for old movies (this one's from 1961), but in my opinion, it is the ultimate classic. Audrey Hepburn plays a young socialite in New York, who becomes interested in a men who has moved into her apartment building. Summer is the perfect time to see this must-watch, enjoy the old school romance, and fall in love with the stunning Audrey.

Rush Hour: action
Last, but certainly not least, is this gem of a series (that's right: there is not only one Rush Hour, but three, making it the perfect choice for a movie marathon). Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker (you're excited already, aren't you!?) play two detectives who take on different cases together. The pair are complete contrasts, which makes for some hilarious dialogue, and the kick-ass actions scenes will keep you excited and awake right through all three movies.

That is all the movies I've got for you, but they are all top-notch films and definite keepers. I tried to get a sample of most genres, so even if one of the titles isn't something that you'd normally go for, give it a chance, and you might be surprised!

Hope you enjoy!!
