Spring Break 2015 // Day 1

After a long day of school, which included getting back a math test (yikes) and taking a history test (yikes!), I was picked up by my family, and we started the long journey from Pennsylvania to California. After the four hour drive--which was quite beautiful, as the setting sun cast hues of pink, orange and yellow into the clear sky--we arrived at the airport, and made our way to the correct terminal. We had quite a bit of time to kill, so I enjoyed the avocado turkey sandwich I had packed and watched The Prince and Me on Netflix. A couple minutes before boarding, I filled up my water bottle, bought some tropical fruit snacks, and I was ready to go!

The flight was quite long, and unfortunately I wasn't able to get much sleep, but we had a smooth landing, got to our rental car, and drove to my Grandparents house. The California night air was slightly cool, but fresh, and in my denim shirt, v-neck, and leggings, I was completely comfortable. By the time we arrived at my Grandparents, it was well past 2AM, so I immediately crawled into bed.

The next morning I woke up around 7AM and headed downstairs to find that for the meantime, I had the house to myself, as everyone else was still asleep. The day would be beautiful, and the sun was already rising into the beautiful blue sky! I got myself a glass of water, and an orange from my Grandparents fruit trees, and settled down for about an hour of reading.

Later in the morning, after having a nice big breakfast with my family, we headed out to whole foods to gather lots of supplies for a big Mexican meal together that evening. Let me tell you guys, whole foods may not sound like that much fun, but we don't have one back in PA, and I was in heaven! Tons of interesting juiced beverages, a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, a nice bakery, and more. Coming home, we had a nice lunch with meat and cheeses, baguette, and a hummus I had picked up at whole foods.

The rest of the afternoon was very relaxed, and I mainly took the time to get some homework done and watch YouTube videos. Eventually, I developed a slight case of cabin fever, so I took a little walk around town for some fresh air, and took a long shower when I got back.

In the evening, we had a family friend visiting, and all hung out in the kitchen and living room and made a huge Mexican meal! We made spiced rice, carnitas, quacolmole, black bean dip, and a mango-red pepper salsa. My brother rounded out the meal with some margaritas, and I found an awesome Latino playlist on 8tracks. To say the least, it was a fun evening (I apologize for not having taken any photos, but it completely slipped my mind :( ).

In the evening, I spent some time on my iPad, and retired early so I would be well rested for the next day!

xx
